Benedict Welch recently finished a PhD at the University of Sussex. His thesis was about a group of writers and artists influenced by choreographic ideas as they responded to the realities of the AIDS crisis in New York. His research was funded by the Consortium for the Humanities and the Arts South-East England (CHASE).
He holds an MA in Film and Literature from the University of York and a BA in English from the University of Cambridge. As an undergraduate, he was Festival Director of Watersprite Film Festival.
His writing has appeared in The Erotic Review, ASAP/J, and his poetry in Impossible Archetype. His poem ‘Stunted’ was one of the winners of the Visual Verse Autumn Writing Prize in 2021. His fiction can be found in Responses to Pale Blue Dot (Pilot Press). He is currently working on his first novel.
