Benedict Welch is a doctoral researcher at the University of Sussex, where he researches dance and movement and their representations in film and literature during the AIDS crisis.

His research is funded by the Consortium for the Humanities and the Arts South-East England (CHASE).

He holds an MA in Film and Literature from the University of York and a BA in English from the University of Cambridge. As an undergraduate, he was Festival Director of Watersprite Film Festival.

His writing has appeared in The Erotic Review, ASAP/J, and his poetry in Impossible Archetype. His poem ‘Stunted’ was one of the winners of the Visual Verse Autumn Writing Prize in 2021. His fiction can be found in Responses to Pale Blue Dot (Pilot Press).
